Dear Parents, Students, Faculty & Staff, and Community Members,
I'm writing to you today to share an update regarding our search for the next MHS High School Principal. Today, the Principal committee co-chairs, Mr. Claire, Ms. Rotelli, as well as Chairwoman Zaino, and I met with the MHS staff to share the news that we will not be moving either candidate forward for the MHS Principalship. We have made a decision to identify an Interim Principal for the 21-22 school year while undergoing a new search.
Upon receiving notice of Principal Davis' resignation, the District posted the position promptly and initiated our recruiting process. Our interview committee reviewed the application materials of 13 candidates, of which 5 candidates were selected to interview. Finalists were vetted through two rounds of interviews, a day-long on-site visitation & tour, a public meet & greet, and extensive reference checking. At this time, it is in the best interest of our school community to extend our search process/timeline and to identify an interim Principal for the 21-22 school year.
We sincerely thank you all for your involvement, time, and investment in the search process. We appreciate you taking the time to complete the feedback forms and for sharing your thoughts. At this time and over the upcoming weeks, we will be considering options for naming an Interim Principal and I look forward to sharing that with you very soon.

Mr. Timothy McCormick: Mr. McCormick was most recently the Principal of Northbridge High School, in Whitinsville, MA. He served in this role from 2017-2021. During his time at Northbridge, he co-authored and was awarded 2 Massachusetts Capital Skills grants, as well as a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) grant in the areas of Engineering/Automation and Health Science. These grants funded the development and implementation of 2 career and college academies and enhanced the school's senior internship program. Prior to Mr. McCormick's position at Northbridge, he served as Principal of Gardner Academy for Learning and Technology; an alternative high school that provides specialized instruction and services to struggling students.
Mr. Christopher Ulrich: Mr. Ulrich is currently the Assistant Principal of Newfound Regional High School in Newfound, NH. He has served in this role since 2015. Prior to this, he was a High School Social Studies teacher in both Laconia, and Nashua, NH. While serving as the Assistant Principal of Newfound Regional, some highlights of his work include the spearheading of Restorative Practices to address discipline, the development of incentive-based systems for academic achievement, and the redesign of school safety procedures.
Mr. Christopher Ulrich: Mr. Ulrich is currently the Assistant Principal of Newfound Regional High School in Newfound, NH. He has served in this role since 2015. Prior to this, he was a High School Social Studies teacher in both Laconia, and Nashua, NH. While serving as the Assistant Principal of Newfound Regional, some highlights of his work include the spearheading of Restorative Practices to address discipline, the development of incentive-based systems for academic achievement, and the redesign of school safety procedures.

I hope that you are well and staying cool during these summer-like temperatures. Indeed our schools have been warm these past couple of days. However, students, faculty, and staff have been real troopers and have found creative ways to stay comfortable including taking several mask breaks, finding shady areas outdoors, participating in low-key activities, rotating through AC spaces, and staying hydrated (a special thanks for water donations made to the schools!!). Additionally, our Buildings and Grounds staff were able to place "Move & Cool" units in various locations as well.
With just about a week left of the 20-21 school year, we're almost at the finish line! This has undoubtedly been a memorable year, and like school districts across the country, we faced enumerable challenges as we navigated the best way to serve our children and staff amid a global pandemic. Despite the stressors, there were incredible demonstrations of excellence in in-person and hybrid learning, and perseverance each time we were asked to pivot and change our course. I feel humbled by the commitment, flexibility, and strength of you, our MSD families, students, faculty and staff, and community partners.
Now, with an end to the pandemic finally in sight, we shall prepare for the 21-22 school year with the hopes of regaining normalcy. We invite you to participate in a survey to help inform the planning for the new year, as well as to prioritize the ESSER funding that our district will receive. Furthermore, the MHS Principal Search committee led by Mr. Steve Claire and Ms. Maryanne Rotelli has recommended two finalists for the position of Milford High School Principal. Both finalists were interviewed this afternoon by a second round team, and they have each been invited to participate in a day-long visit to the high school on Thursday, June 10th, where they will have an opportunity to tour Milford High School/ATC, meet with students, administration, and faculty, as well as to meet 1:1 with me.
