Dear Milford School District Community,
Several weeks ago we sent out communication about the PowerSchool cybersecurity breach. The Milford School District continues to actively monitor a recent cybersecurity incident that impacted PowerSchool, a company that provides our School District with student information management software.
As previously shared, on December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain customer data, potentially including some information relating to the Milford School District.
We understand that on or about January 29, 2025, PowerSchool began sending notifications via email directly to certain impacted individuals and families to notify them of the incident. It is anticipated that these incident notification emails from PowerSchool will be sent to affected individuals and families on a rolling basis in the coming days and weeks. As of January 29, 2025, PowerSchool has indicated its investigation into the incident has not yet concluded. As such, our understanding of the scope of the incident is actively evolving and there remains a possibility that those families who have not yet received an email from PowerSchool may receive one in the future, along with further communication from Milford School District.
While we await additional findings from PowerSchool concerning the scope of the impact of this incident, it is important to remain diligent in reviewing your financial account statements and credit reports for fraudulent or irregular activity on a regular basis. Please see the attachment on this email for precautionary measures.
Further, PowerSchool has set up a dedicated response line for this incident. The response line is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Central Time. You may contact PowerSchool’s response line directly at (833) 918-9464. Additionally, PowerSchool has published additional information on its website, which can be accessed HERE.
We acknowledge this may be concerning news. As always, our #1 priority is to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff and community. We will share further updates as relevant information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Christi Michaud, Superintendent

Dear Milford Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to personally invite you to an important School Budget and Bond Hearing scheduled for next Tuesday, January 14th at 7p.m. in the Lecture Hall at MHS. Your voice matters, and we encourage all parents and community members to attend and engage in this year's warrant article discussions.
In the letter included, which is also available in this year's Budget Book, I have outlined the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 School District. It contains crucial information regarding the budget development process, the challenges posed by reduced state funding, and the pressures of balancing needs with long-term sustainability.
Finally, a significant warrant article that will be discussed on Tuesday evening pertains to the learning environment at Milford High School. The planned improvements are not just about updating the physical structures, they are also a key part of our vision to foster learning and growth, as well as to ensure that Milford remains an attractive community for students to stay, live, work, and contribute. By fixing our school facilities, providing more opportunities for education, and preparing students with the skills necessary for local careers, we can create an environment that keeps our students here after graduation.
I encourage you to attend the hearing and share your thoughts. The Milford School Board will be finalizing the warrant articles following your input to bring forward to the Deliberative session in February.
I appreciate your involvement and I hope to see you Tuesday night.
Kindly,
Superintendent Michaud
