6005 - (KF) Use of School Buildings and Facilities by General Public

 

 

 

 

It shall be the policy of the Milford School Board to make school facilities available for
use by the general public whenever possible, provided the group or organization meets
the requirements as outlined below.

The use of school facilities for the purpose of advertising and/or promoting a private
enterprise or providing services for students and/or faculty members for a non-school
sponsored activity is permitted upon approval of the Board/designee.

The Superintendent shall establish procedures for the use or rental of facilities. The
Superintendent shall recommend a fee schedule to the Board. The approved fee
schedule shall be published to the Milford School District’s website.

Organizations connected with and promoting recognized school functions may use the
buildings without rental charge but may be charged for costs incurred for required
staffing or additional cleanup.

Other organizations may use school property upon payment of suitable fees and costs,
according to the fee schedule recommended by the Superintendent and approved by
the Board.

No school building or facility shall be used for any purpose which could result in
picketing, rioting, disturbing the peace or damage to property or for any purpose
prohibited by law. Renters are responsible for personal injuries to persons attending the
activity and must provide proof of appropriate insurance.

The Superintendent or designee shall approve or deny all rentals of school facilities on
the basis of this policy and any related procedures.

All renters of school facilities are responsible to leave the facilities in at least the same
condition as received. The District reserves the right to bill renters for damages to
facilities and equipment and to deny future use of school facilities.
