Dear Milford Parents, Families, and Community Partners,

As we prepare to welcome students back for another exciting school year, I would like to share an update regarding leadership at two of our schools.

As many of you know, Milford Middle School Principal, Mr. Gregoire, recently accepted a principal position in a district much closer to his home. While we are certainly sad to see him leave, we are also happy for him and grateful for the dedication he demonstrated to our students, staff, and families over the past three years while managing an exceptionally long daily commute. We wish him nothing but the very best in this next chapter.

With this transition, we carefully considered the best approach for ensuring stability and continuity for our schools. Because these changes occurred during the summer months, we believe it is in the best interest of our schools to appoint interim leaders rather than rush a permanent hiring process.

I am pleased to announce the following interim appointments:

  • Mr. Tim O'Connell will serve as Interim Principal of Milford Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year.
  • Ms. Heather Hoefs will serve as Interim Principal of Jacques Memorial School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Both Mr. O’Connell and Ms. Hoefs are familiar faces within the Milford School District and have established strong relationships with students, staff, and families. They know our schools, understand our district's vision and priorities, and are committed to providing the support and leadership our school communities deserve.

Leadership transitions naturally bring questions, and I want to assure you that our focus remains on providing a positive, stable, and supportive experience for every student. I have every confidence in Mr. O'Connell and Ms. Hoefs and know they will be supported by the dedicated teachers, staff, parents, families, and community partners who contribute to the success of our schools each day. Together, they will continue the important work already underway while fostering the strong relationships, high expectations, and caring school environments that help every student learn, grow, and succeed.

Our plan is to conduct a comprehensive search for permanent principals during the Winter/Spring of 2027. This timeline will allow us to engage in a thoughtful process that includes consideration of both internal and external candidates while identifying the best long-term leaders for each school.

Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. We look forward to welcoming our students back soon and to another wonderful year of learning, growth, and success.

Kindly,
Christi Michaud
Superintendent of Schools

Dear Milford School District Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Families,

I would like to share that Milford Middle School Principal, Mr. Gregoire, has accepted a position in a school district much closer to his home and submitted his resignation from the Milford School District earlier this week.

While we are certainly saddened to see Mr. Gregoire leave, we are also genuinely happy for him. Over the past three years, he has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to our students, staff, and families while managing an exceptionally long daily commute. We understand the importance of finding a position that allows for a healthier work-life balance, and we wish him every success in this next chapter of his career. We are grateful for his leadership and the positive contributions he has made to Milford Middle School.

As we look ahead, I want to reassure our school community that we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition. Given that we are in the middle of the summer, conducting a comprehensive search process at this time would not allow us to attract the strongest pool of candidates or provide meaningful opportunities for stakeholder involvement. Instead, we are exploring internal leadership options and speaking with current administrators who have expressed interest in new leadership opportunities within the district.

Our expectation is to appoint an interim Principal to lead Milford Middle School for the upcoming school year. This approach will provide continuity for students and staff while allowing us to conduct a thoughtful and thorough search process at a later date, when both internal and external candidates can be fully considered.

Milford Middle School is fortunate to have a dedicated leadership team, experienced faculty, and outstanding support staff who remain committed to preparing for a successful opening of school. Throughout this transition, our focus will remain where it belongs—on supporting our students, staff, and families and ensuring a positive start to the school year.

We will share additional information regarding interim leadership roles as soon as those decisions have been finalized next week. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and partnership as we work through this transition together.

Sincerely,

Christi Michaud
Superintendent of Schools
