2025 - August
Aug 28, 11:13 AM
Dear Milford Community,
Our greatest responsibility as a school community is to keep our students and staff safe, and as Superintendent, I want you to know this remains my top priority. With this commitment in mind, I want to share how we approach emergency preparedness in our schools, the ways we collaborate with local law enforcement, and our ongoing work to continually strengthen safety measures.
Emergency Preparedness
Each of our schools follows a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) that is reviewed annually, practiced through regular drills, and aligned with state and federal guidelines. Staff receive ongoing training, and students participate in age-appropriate safety exercises so that everyone is prepared to respond quickly and appropriately in an emergency.
Collaboration with Law Enforcement
We maintain strong partnerships with the Milford Police Department and other first responders. Together with our School Resource Officer, Mr. Addonizio, we conduct safety assessments and drills. In collaboration with law enforcement, the School Board, and our Facilities Department, we continue to strengthen school security through programs such as the New Hampshire SAFE grants. These grants have allowed us to install new classroom door locks, additional indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras, and ballistic film on first-floor windows. Additionally, this summer we upgraded to new phone and door access card systems across the district.
Ongoing Commitment
We know that safety is never “finished". It requires ongoing evaluation, training, and strong community partnership. Just as important, we are dedicated to building the positive relationships that create a culture of trust, care, and vigilance across all of our schools.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping Milford schools safe places for children to learn and grow. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Christi Michaud
Superintendent of Schools

We are asking families to click on the link and complete the F&R Lunch Form HERE. Even if you do not think you qualify, it is important that you complete the form, as doing so helps our District receive funds that are vital to running programs and providing services for our students. If you prefer a hard copy of the form, please contact your child’s school. Thank you for your participation.
Personal Communication Devices
Superintendent of Schools
To provide every student with a focused and productive learning environment, the Milford School Board has approved Policy JICJ in accordance with the new state law RSA 189:1-a-V.
Starting Wednesday, August 27, all personal communication devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, must remain off and stored in backpacks or lockers throughout the school day, from the first bell until dismissal. This includes lunch, passing times, and recess.
The full policy is attached for your review, and each school’s handbook will include procedures for its implementation.
We sincerely thank the more than 300 parents, students, teachers, and community members who shared feedback through our survey. Your input was invaluable in shaping this policy.
We ask for your support in helping students understand and follow this policy so that classrooms remain safe, focused, and distraction-free. Thank you for partnering with us in supporting every student’s success.
Sincerely,Superintendent of Schools
