2292 (JICMM) Student Issued Technology 2292 (JICMM)

Students may be issued (or assigned) District owned device(s) (i.e., Chromebooks,
iPads, etc.) in order to enhance their learning experience. This is a privilege that can be
revoked. All devices are to be returned upon withdrawal of student from the District or
upon high school graduation. Homeschooled students may use a school-issued device
provided they are still residing in the District.

Students are expected to respect the District’s property and be responsible for the use
and care of the equipment. Students are to follow any District instructions regarding
maintenance and care of the equipment. The District is responsible for any routine
maintenance and standard repairs to district devices. Students are responsible for any
and all damages to their assigned device(s), regardless if the damages are accidental
or otherwise. Students are expected to timely and properly notify the District of any
need for service.

The District may offer Chromebook insurance on an annual (yearly) basis to cover the
repair costs of accidental damage. Students and their families are expected to
cooperate with district staff and its insurance agent and insurance carrier to provide
complete information regarding the loss or damage, if applicable.

The District will create procedures for the deployment and collection of devices, the
processing of insurance claims, the issuance and collection of fees for non-insured
damages, and/or the non-return of devices, as well as possible disciplinary action.
