Forrest (Cy) H. Wright
Class of 1955
Forrest Herbert Wright, (Cy), was born February 27, 1936 at Memorial Hospital in Nashua, NH and passed peacefully at home on June 1, 2025 at 89. Cy was the youngest of 6 siblings and was the son of Milford historian and author Winifred A. (Bowler) and Raymond C. Wright of Willow Street, Milford.
Cy was predeceased by the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betsy) J. (Taborne) Wright. They were married for 57 years and made their home in Hollis. Relatives include many Wright, Jones, Fox, McDonald, Boncoddo, Chasseur and Taborne’s of New England and California.
Cy was a proud member of the Milford High School class of 1955. While in his teens he played drums for several Milford groups such as The Four Razzmatazz Boys, founded by Jack Heelan, The Dick Sullivan Band, Larry Conti Orchestra, Milford High School Band, the original Milford Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps sponsored by the VFW, and was a substitute drummer for groups who held concerts on the bandstand, organized by The East Milford Band. He fondly remembers the oval being partially closed to traffic as weekly concerts had citizens dancing in the streets. Cy worked for Kokko Builders (Wayno Kokko, owner) for 21 years where he learned how to build quality homes, including his own, then retired at 52 and established a snow plowing business for local enterprises.
Cy and Betsy traveled to Hawaii three times, Spain, New Orleans six times and made several fun trips to Mohegan Sun with close friends to see the stars perform. Forrest and Betsy weren’t blessed with children but Cy’s niece Denise (Wright) Fox of Wilton had the pleasure of being his assistant and weekly “coffee klatch” buddy. His red truck could be seen daily parked in front of the Milford Diner as he met with fellow classmates to be updated on Milford’s happenings.
Cy was the fun Uncle and the person young family members gravitated to because he was “one of them”. At Wright reunions he was the biggest kid in the room with his booming laugh, sunny non-stop smile and playful nature. He will be sorely missed. (Hollis, NH - 06.01.2025)
