If you have the opportunity to thank a Teacher,
or Staff Member, Administrator, or share a shout out,
I know that would go a long way in encouraging
the incredible hard work of our staff.
Dear Milford Community,

It’s incredible that October 1st has come and gone, and we are through the first month of school. Open houses have been had, and routines are settling in. Did you know that we are up over 63 students than had been anticipated this year. We have also doubled our out-of-district attendees of our ATC program. People are moving to Milford, and students from other districts want to take part in our innovative programs. This is exciting, and a real testament to our staff!

I want to send a sincere thanks to all of our administrators, teachers, support staff, technology, facilities and maintenance, and our SAU team for a successful start. I also want to say a special thank you to the Milford Police Department for their partnership and support in rolling out our new Safety Procedures, and the wonderful information nights we held for families this past week. If you have the opportunity to thank a Teacher, or Staff member, Administrator, or share a shout out, I know that would go a long way in encouraging the incredible hard work of our staff. Let’s make October, a month of Kindness across Milford.

It’s hard to believe it is already time to begin building the budget for the 20-21 School year. Our Administrative team has been hard at work determining needs, and aligning those needs to our Strategic Plan. In the coming years, a major focus for discussion will need to be facilities and infrastructure. Our youngest building is 20 years old, and our facilities need updating to provide students the learning environment to best prepare them to be successful in the 21st Century. Additionally, we are incredibly tight for space at Jacques Memorial School. With a large influx of many new students, we added classroom teachers there this year. These are all wonderful things, but certainly will bring about discussions around space and facilities as we enter this budget cycle.

Similar to last year, I have set dates for open houses and community conversations. Please see below dates, and join me for conversations about our schools. I want to thank all of our community members and families for their continued support of the work our staff does on a daily basis to provide an excellent education for ALL our children.

Best Regards,
Dr. Jessica Huizenga
